We kayaked round Aialik Bay, visiting different bays and glaciers and getting to places like Pedersen Lagoon that are not accessible any other way. It was one of the wildest places I’ve ever been - abundant with humpback whales, sea otters, mures, puffins, seals and orchas. The paintings are focused on the glaciers - inspired by sitting in front of them watching (and hearing) them carve, or being surrounded by the icebergs that have broken off them. It is a bittersweet experience - being overwhelmed by beauty, but aware that it is disappearing in front of you.
